Sat 8/24 - Beverly Triton Nature Park - Faires in the Woods - Bring the kids and learn how fairies of storybook legend might use elements of nature to build their homes, providing camoflage and protection. This is a great way to engage children in nature and spark their imaginations. Kids will spend time scavenging supplies and building their own fairy homes.

Wed 8/28 - Sandy Point - Invasive Species Hike - Join a park naturalist for a guided hike at Sandy Point State Park to learn about invasive species found in Maryland.

Also, be sure to check out “Evolve: Paintings by Jeff Huntington” at the Jo Fleming Contemporary Art on Maryland Ave, an exhibition of Jeff’s contemporary portaiture in oil on panels or canvas as well as cut paper. You’ve seen Jeff’s large scale work all around town but here’s a chance to see more of his work without driving all around town.


Chesapeake Children’s Museum

Sun 8/25 - 3D Art - Kids ages 5-12 will construct scupltures with a variety of materials including wood, wire, cloth, natural objects and more.

And, as always, check out their Monday babies and toddlers play group, Thursday Creek Critters and Friday Art and Story Time


Raye of Light Studio

Wed 8/28 - Adventures in Watercolor & Textures - Learn about using different materials and techniques for creating interesting backgrounds in watercolor. You don’t need to have watercolor experience to enjoy this workshop.

Raye of Light is also doing some good work outside the shop… including a workshop on Tues 8/27 - working with alcohol ink at the Arnold Senior Center.


Local by Design

This weekend - Annapolis Artisan’s Market - a monthly open house and exhibit where you can check out their workspace, meet the artists and buy some fun items.

Fri 8/23 - Comedy Film Night - Check out this family friendly monthly film night that will entertain and educate.. This month’s feature is Loony Toons! This event is free but donations are always appreciated.

Sat 8/24 - Macro Photography Workshop - Macro photography is all about getting closer to your subject and seeing it in a way that you can’t see from a distance. There will be several stations set up including a self contained light box, a glass plate with glycerin drops a well as a still life station with flowers and engagement rings. After lunch, the action moves outside to work with natural light.

All next week - 3D Sculpture Summer Camp - Students will be introduced to the principles of sculpture then work with reusable clay, wood sculpture from cut shapes and the final project will use a substructure and plaster.

Sun/Mon - Glass Fusing - Summer Cactus Plate - Turn up the heat with this summer cactus glass fusing workshop! Creat eyour own desert cactus scene with glass! You’ll be guided through cutting, shaping and laying down your glass design.

All next week.. Two ArtRageous Summer Camps… These camps will have campers creating projects from a variety of materials such as pottery painting, glass fusing, clay sculpting, tie dye and more. Next week’s camp themes are “Mad Scientist” and “Secret Garden”

Sat 8/24 - Severn - Cubetto: Adventures in Space - Learn the basics of programming with this fun wooden robot in a playful environment. For ages 3-5

8/24 - Severn - Cubetto - Bilingual - .. and later on Saturday, still at Severn, they’ll be doing Cubetto for spanish speakers, Cubetto: Bilingüe!

Pongos Learning Lab/Coder Kids Club - Crofton

Summer’s almost over, but there’s still time for more Pongos summer camps…

Little Learners Pre-K STEAM Camp - This half day sampler camp will have kids spending mornings exploring the worlds of STEAM. Topics include gross/messy/fun science, the technology of robots, engineering with Lego bricks, a day of music and art and a day full of fun and engaging math.


Gamer Club Summer Camp for kids K-8 - Kids will spend the whole day playing games, but many of them are educational and there will be challenges to participate in. Kids will also have an opportunity to learn about game design, development, escape rooms and more.
