    Now through March 16 - Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University - Hackerman Map Collection - From colonial impressions of the Chesapeake Bay to detailed city plans for guiding Baltimore’s rapid expansion, the exhibition features over 30 stunning and historically significant maps of Maryland and related rare prints and books.

    Sun 1/20 - MAARC Winterfest at the National Electronics Museum in Linthicum - The Mid Atlantic Antique Radio Club holds it’s annual WinterFest swap meet at the electronics museum every year. It’s an all-indoor swap meet with an auction open to all vintage electronics sellers.

    Sat 1/19 - Onion Basket Workshop - An expert basket maker will show you how to create your own onion basket. Basket supplies are provided but bring a lunch and there’s a few other things they recommend that you bring, so check the website for the list.

    Sat 1/19 - “Where’s the Bear?” - A full moon strole, campfire and touch station. - Find out where animals go in the winter, see what animals might be out on a winter evening during a short walk, then warm up by the fire and learn more. Be sure to dress warm and warm beverages are provided.

    Sun 1/20 - A special event: Lunar Eclipse Campfire - Enjoy the total lunar eclipse and a nice toasty campfire with telescopes and astronomers on hand to inform you. This will be the last lunar eclipse until 2022. Dress warm for this one too.

    Today through Sunday (1/3 through 1/6) - Super MAGfest (National Harbor) - MAGFest stands for Music and Gaming Festival, a four day event dedicated to the appreciation of video game music, gaming of all types and the gaming community. Events run 24 hours a day for the duration of the festival and include console games. Arcades, tabletop, LAN, live video game cover bands, vendors and more. Last year they drew over 22k attendees!

    Wed - 1/9 - Foundations of Photography Workshop - This 2 hour workshop covers how to control the aperture settings, exposure compensation, how to use ISO settings to take better photos, proper focus, shutter speed and other aspects of using a DSLR camera. You should bring a DSLR camera with fully charged battery, a memory card and the camera’s manual.

    Last chance to see some of our favorite holiday light displays including Lights on the Bay

    Edgewater - Illuminated Londontown Gardens added an extra night tomorrow night. They’ll have hot cider and s’mores and roaring fires and the gardens will be illuminated throughout with holiday lights. They’ll also be showing off colonial nighttime and holidays at a candlelit William Brown House.

    Sun 12/30 - “A Miracle on Annapolis Street” in West Annapolis will feature food trucks, beer tests, games and activities.. also, Budweiser Clydesdales will be there between 11am and 3pm

    NYE downtown Annapolis - Mon - A day filled with music and dancing, kids activities that include face painting, obstacle course and moon bounces. And of course, fireworks at midnight!

    Tonight - Last chance for Midnight Madness in downtown Annapolis.

    Tomorrow(Fri)-Sat - Ursids Meteor Shower - Typically ranging from 5 to 10 per hour, this year as many as double the normal amount in bursts are to be expected. Unfortunately they’ll be competing with the full moon. There will be a sharp peak tomorrow morning, sometime after midnight tonight but as late as just before sunrise tomorrow. The ursids are named from their location in the sky, near Ursa Minor, also known the little dipper.

    Starting Wed running through Sun 30th - Winter Break Art Camp - A workshop for ages 8 - 15. It’s an open studio styled art camp where they’ll have a different teach each of the five days during the holiday break. Each day will bring different activities for the kids from sculpture to painting to even watching short art films. Kids can join them for one day or all five at a discounted rate, whatever works best for your family. Older campers may choose to work on their own projects during this time, they are not required to participate in every activity.

    Wed 12/26 - Thur/Fri and Mon - School is Out Mini-Camp - School may be out, but Pongos is still open! Kids can choose activities based on their interests, not a rigid schedule. Some past activities have included playing Minecraft and other computer and tablet games, experiment with STEM toys like Snap Circuits, littleBits Dash & Dot, watch music videos and have a dance party. The camp is appropriate for kids grades K through 8.

Families and friends gather at their favorite viewing spots along the waterfront to see this yearly spectacle and to celebrate the holiday season together. The Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade is one of Annapolis’ signature events and we invite you to join us as a participant in the parade or as a spectator cheering on the decorated boats and their crews.

    Fri - 11/23 - Great Frogs Winery in Annapolis - Maker’s Market - Join them for a special day full of food, wine, music and shopping. Event features live music from Ampersand String Band as well as the Dan Haas Band. Makers attending are Tin Lizzy, Mango and Main, Wild Raven, Kim Hovell, Wine Diva, Krafted With Love, Refined Woodworking and Mad Flava. Don’t miss their 2nd annual makers market!

    Friday and Saturday - 11/23-11/24 - American Visionary Arts Museum - Baltimore - Bazzart Holiday Art Market - AVAM’s annual holiday art market returns! Browse original creations by over 40 region artists and craftspeople.

    Sun - 11/25 - downtown Annapolis - Grand Illumination - There will be dancing and carols by local school groups, Santa will be there to help light the tree around 6:30 and the Jaycees will be serving hot chocolate and candy canes and have ornaments for children to decorate. The Jaycees will also be accepting donations of unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items for their annual Angel Tree program, which helps local families in need during the holiday season.

    Wed - 11/28 - Prince George’s Publick Playhouse - Wytold: The Science of Sound. Electric cellist and composer, Wytold, blends classical techniques and live looping to create interactive musical adventures for grades 3- 8.
