    All next week, 7/9th-13th at ArtFarm AnnapolisFearless Girls Photo Camp for ages 10-13, taught by professional photography instructors.

    Also all next week, 7/9th-13th, Clay Bakers is doing a “Mystical and Woodland Creatures” summer camp for children using various media such as pottery painting, glass fusing, clay sculpting and tye dye.

    Starting today 7/5 and running all weekend - Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association Steam Show - If you’ve ever noticed a bunch of tractors and steam engine looking things tucked away in the trees on the right hand side, just past Easton.. while you were headed down to the ocean.. that’s what you saw. It’s been running for 45 years now and seems to still be going strong!

    While we’re talking about the eastern shore… a shout out to Kevin and all the great people at M4 Reactor in Salisbury. Makerspaces are pretty community-centric, so that’s a bit of a hike for most people, but M4 is doing some really great things down there, so if you know anyone near Salisbury looking for a workshop, they certainly have everything from electronics to woodworking, even a pretty powerful laser cutter.

    Sunday - First Sunday Arts Festival in Annapolis w/ over 130 local and regional artists taking up the first few blocks of West Street

    Saturdays through August - Learn to Kayak at Cherry Hill Splash Park in Brooklyn. Beginners are provided kayaking instruction and skill building tips

    6/30 - Oregon Ridge Park - Cockeysville - Basketmaking Workshop - where you’ll learn how to weave a wine bottle basket. There are some special materials you need to bring with you, so check the website for more information.

    Challenge Island/Challenge Island Jr - Preschoolers and elementary school students explore science and engineering through music in this STEAM event.     Sat 6/23 - Town of Berlin and Believe in Tomorrow are hosting the 29th Annual Bathtub Races! This is a land race where one person pushes one or more people inside a bathtub with wheels. Multiple heats lead up to the 2018 champion bathtub racer!

    Sat 6/23 - 10th Annual Baltimore Dragon Boat Challenge - The Baltimore Dragon Boat Club will host a mix of corporate, city, breast cancer survivor and club dragon boat teams in a series of 500-meter and 2k races.

    Sat 6/23 - Ellicott City - First of five “Kids in Gardens” at Benjamin Banneker Park - Kids learn about nature while digging in the garden. Pre-registration is required, $15 for all five classes.

    This weekend 6/23-24 - Ocean City - The Eastern Shore Art League and Clay Guild of the Eastern Shore hosting Clay-a-palooza - Events include throwing and handbuilding demos, a throwdown competition and bowl-making sessions.

    Also 6/23-24 - Bel Air - Inaugural East Coast RepRep 3D Printing Festival - We have the RepRap project, started in 2005, to thank for all the hobby level 3D printers we have today. Their goal was to develop a low cost 3D printer that can print many of it’s own parts.. RepRap is short for Replicating Rapid Prototyper 

    Next week - Clay Bakers - Shark Week Summer Camp - Campers create projects from painting pottery, glass fusing, sculpting, tye die and mosaics. Camps encourage children to try new art media and promote creativity and imagination.

    Saturday 6/23 - Repair Cafe - Bring by your broken items and work with them on possibly fixing them. From sewing a ripped shirt to gluing a loose chair leg or silver soldering damaged jewelry. For items that can’t be repaired, they take donations for a week of “take it apart” activities where kids and curious people are invited to take things apart and to see how they work!

    Next week is also their Robotics Summer Camp using Lego Mindstorm robotics kits, performing challenging tasks and competing for special rewards.

    Monday 6/11-6/17 - National Week of Making

    The Week of Making is an opportunity to for individuals in communities throughout the U.S. to participate in Making activities locally, celebrating the innovation, ingenuity and creativity of Makers.

    Makers are developing new solutions and products for pressing challenges, engaging students in hands on, interactive learning of STEM, arts, and design, and enabling individuals to learn new skills in fabrication and manufacturing.

    The Maker Movement is driven by engineers, hobbyists, tinkerers, crafters, artists, entrepreneurs and innovators and is changing the face of education, breathing new life and innovation into American manufacturing and strengthening American communities.

    Tuesday 6/12/2018 - Capitol Hill Maker Faire DC - celebrating the American Maker movement. It will be a fun interactive event for members of the public, Congress and congressional staff. It’s hosted by the Nation of Makers, the Institute of Museum and Library Sciences and in collaboration with the Congressional Maker Caucus.

    Registration is open for the National Electronics Museum’s Pioneer Camp for children ages 8-11. The first session is July 18th and 19th.. The second session is August 8th and 9th. Pioneer camp is a two day summer camp held twice each summer (same program for both sessions). This year’s Pioneer Camp is Space Themed. Campers learn about satellites, telescopes, stars, space travel and more. Campers will make their own telescopes and model planets.

    The week starting Sunday 6/3 - Maryland Federation of Art is hosting the 14th year of “Paint Annapolis” - 5 day juried “plein air” painting competition that brings outdoor painters from around the world.

    Tomorrow through 6/10 - Annapolis Arts Week - City Dock. Encompassing a wide range of artistic creativity in Annapolis including events at art galleries, musicians and performing arts studios.

    Saturday/Sunday - 6/2-6/3 - Naval Air Station Patuxent River Air Expo - Free family fun featuring aerial acrobatic performances, exhibits, food and kid’s activities. Performances include the Blue Angels, the GEICO Skytypers, Shock Wave Jet Truck and more.

    Saturday/Sunday - 6/2-6/3 - Baltimore Clayworks’ Seconds Sales - Your chance to shop from hundreds of pieces of pottery, sculpture and ceramic objects handmade by local artists at discounted prices. The event includes food trucks as well as beer and wine vendors.

    There's still time to sign up for classes which run June 25th-Aug 3rd - Classes include art, computer science and game design, 3D printing, sculpture, LEGO Robotics, Engineering and more.

    This weekend in Baltimore, 5/25-5/28, is Balticon, the region’s largest and longest running scifi/fantasy convention. Founded over 50 years ago, Balticon is always a great place to show off, or just check out, some fantastic cosplay.

    Saturday 5/26 - Smith Island Arts and Crafts Festival featuring the works of local artists and the cultural heritage of Smith Island which will be on display as well as for sale.. As well as local food specialties including the famous Smith Island Cake. This event is actually ON Smith Island, so start looking into getting your boat in the water or making ferry reservations now.

    Tonight (Thurs 5/24) - Chesapeake Brewing Company is My Victory Garden’s indoor herb class. Learn about herbs and go home with your own kitchen herb basket. The class is taught by a hydroponics professional from MikeGro Greens of Annapolis and they start promptly at 7pm. The event is limited capacity and preregistration is required.

    Starting Yesterday (Wednesday 5/23) and running through July 8th at Quiet Waters Park is the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters Members’ Exhibit - Artwork will be exhibited at the Willow Gallery at Quiet Waters Park with an open reception to be held June 3rd.
