Would you like to learn how to make a beautiful hand-crafted pen out of exotic wood? Or maybe a beautiful bowl or wine bottle stopper?
The possibilities for what you can make on a lathe are endless! For example:
- Custom pens - Bowls - Wine bottle stoppers - Seam Rippers (for un-sewing) - Wood vases - Tool handles ...and more!
Lathe-turned items make wonderful personalized gifts, and many can be made in just a few hours!
Topics to be covered will include a basic understanding of the lathe operation, tools, techniques, and safety considerations. Participants will gain insights on what types of projects are possible to make at varying levels of lathe experience.
The complete end-to-end process will be demonstrated during the class - loading the stock, shaping the wood with the tools and even applying a basic finish. Everyone will get hands-on practice operating the lathe, including carving and shaping, and gain skills needed to develop the confidence to embark on their first project.
We'll also share links to our favorite sites from which to get project ideas, wood and resin stock, and hardware kits.
